Abstract
401,622. Opening eggs. DAY, H., 19, Mansell Road, Acton Vale, London. July 14, 1933, No. 19893. [Class 28 (ii).] An egg - opener comprises two cutters b pivoted at d' in a housing in two halves a and formed with a handle portion, and is characterized by the provision of lugs b<5>, on the cutters immediately behind the cutting-edges b<1>, operable by the pressure of the thumb and finger of the hand grasping the handle. Downward pressure is also exerted on the lugs to prevent the cutters from slipping on the egg shell. The cutters are normally retained open by a spring c housed in recesses b<3> in the shanks of the cutters. The parts a, which are preferably of synthetic resin, are secured together by rivets d and are spaced by lugs a<1> which also serve to limit the outward movement of the blades b.
