Abstract

<PICT:0400849/III/1> In apparatus for drying, cooling, or otherwise treating liquids such as liquid fats or fat emulsions, comprising a drum c to which the liquids are applied in a regulatable layer and a feeding chamber A to which the liquid is supplied, the chamber A comprises a hollow frame having a base b, side walls a, an end wall k, and a hollow bridge-like portion d connecting the side walls. The chamber is mounted adjacent the drum and extends the full width thereof; within the chamber an open-topped tray f is slidable by screws i extending through the wall k. The tray carries a packing h, such as a wooden block, held pressed against the drum, and the tray and the bridge-piece d are provided with heating spaces g, d<1>. The bridge-piece d contains a liquid supply pipe l having outflow orifices m and provided with flow regulating means. Upon the bridge-piece is mounted a smoothing device such as a roller n rotated in the same sense as the drum, and carried on a slide o adjustable towards and away from the drum by a screw p and secured by a fly nut r on a screw passing through a slot in the slide.
