Abstract
397,489. Colour photography. GERDANOVITS, V. VON, 2, Scudier Platz, Temesvar, Roumania. Feb. 15, 1932, No. 4447. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1931. [Class 98 (ii).] A method of producing emulsion screens for colour photography is characterized in that different emulsions are applied in screen form to a base, of which emulsions the one pertaining to a particular colour, for example, blue, possesses a total sensitiveness which is greater than those of the remaining colours to such an extent that the amount of light which is necessary for producing the image in the blue elements. of the screen is without effect on the remaining emulsion screen elements pertaining to the other colours. The screen may be produced by applying the screen elements to an elastic base as described in Specification 358,187, and transferring to the final screen carrier. The emulsion may be thickened by the addition of dextrine, sugar, gum arabic, albumen or the like, while collodion emulsions may be thickened with resins or artificial resins. A yellow protective dyestuff such as auramine G may be added to the red and green elements of the screen. This dyestuff may be removed eventually by dissolving out in water and the residual traces expelled by treatment with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide. The red screen elements are dyed with indigosol scarlet H.B., the green with indigosol green A.B., and the blue with indigosol 04B. These dyestuffs are fixed by the addition of sodium nitrate and subsequent treatment with a solution of sulphuric acid. The silver image may be toned by platinum, gold, sulphur, selenium or other baths, or with a suitable dye after bleaching in a bath of potassium ferrocyanide. Iron oxalate may be the developer. Paper for the base may be impregnated with resin, wax, bitumen, artificial resins, paraffin, or may be attached to metal foil. White opal glass, porcelain, or chromium-plated iron or aluminium may also be employed as base.
