[Class 40 (iv.] In an impulse transmitter designed to transmit certain predetermined multidigit numbers as the result of a single setting operation, the apparatus for each number comprises a disc 87 provided with a number of sectors 85 which may be set as desired to make up any number, the space between two sectors representing a digit whilst the width of each sector represents the interdigital pause. The sectors act through a slidable member 89 to rock a shaft 88 which moves impulse springs 91 into and out of engagement with a continuously-driven cam 90. The sectors 85 are resilient and are held in any set position by bent-over lugs engaging teeth on the disc 87 or by pins engaging with holes. The disc assembly is mounted through a disconnectible coupling 87c on a shaft 87b driven by a clockwork mechanism wound up by an external pivoted lever. The last sector of a disc is made longer than the others so as to rock the shaft 88 further, thereby restoring immediately after the transmission of the last digit instrument-short-circuiting contacts which were closed when the discs moved off-normal. The apparatus is mounted in a cabinet through the top of which projects a slider connected to the member 89, the slider carrying a pointer which moves over a removable name panel.
