Abstract

397,314. Prospecting for minerals. HAUSER & CO., GES., F9, Frauentorstrasse, Augsburg, and OSTERMEIER, J. B., 6, Hans-Sachsweg, Mering near Augsburg, Germany. Sept. 27, 1932, No. 26817. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1931. [Class 37.] Subaqueous metallic deposits or minerals in moist media are located by means of two submerged and electrochemically equivalent electrode materials connected to a galvanometer and resistance compensatory circuits which include a source of potential difference and a separate measuring instrument for balancing any false potential difference created, for example, by thermo-currents or polarization, one of the electrodes contacting with the deposit and forming with a second electrode an electrolytic circuit through the adjacent water or moistened earth. Electrodes 21, 22 are connected to a galvanometer 23 including compensatory circuits 16, 10 provided with separate measuring instruments 14, 18 and a source of potential difference 12. The compensating voltages are applied to balance the electromotive forces due to contact of the electrode with different ores, and also to balance extraneous potential differences. The electrodes may be mounted in close proximity to each other, for example, on a probing stick.
