[Class 60.] A sharpener for use on a lawn-mower consists of a bar 12 of abrasive secured in a channelshaped carrier 8 having ends 9, which may be adjustable longitudinally, carrying bolts 17 surrounded by springs 18 and passing through holes in the ends 15 of channel-shaped supports 14. The supports 14 have thereon bolts 16 whereby the supports are secured adjustably in brackets 20, which are arranged to be held bv the bolt 21 of the fixed blade ; slotted struts 22 are pivotally secured to the brackets and are engaged by the roller bracket bolt 23. In operation, the driving pinions of the mower are reversed and the mower is traversed in overturned position ; oil is supplied to the blades 25 and these, after passing the sharpening bar 12 serve, by carrying particles of the abrasive thereon, to grind the fixed blade. 396,927.
