Abstract

396,873. Brake drums. INDIA RUBBER, GUTTA PERCHA, & TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., Aldwych House, Aldwych, and TARRIS, F. J., Silvertown, both in London. April 19, 1932, No. 11137. [Class 103 (i).] In brake drums that are attached to vehicle wheels in the manner described in Specification 323,617, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.], by securing a flange 14 on the drum 13 to an annular support 12 which is secured to or forms part of the wheel, the drum being of a diameter to fit closely within the support, the drum has a stiffening rib 16 of helical form and the flange 12<1> of the support 12 has a short circumferential slot or gap 17 through which the rib may be passed by a screwing motion to bring the drum flange against the flange 121. The brake may be of the kind described in Specification 302,385, [Class 103 (i), Brakes &c.]. Specification 299,950, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.], also is referred to.
