395,099. Games; punching - balls. MULHOLLAND, C., 17, Airedale Avenue, Marton, Blackpool. March 23, 1932, No. 8577. [Classes 132 (i) and 132 (ii).] Apparatus for practising or playing ball games, for example, golf, cricket, or tennis, or for use as a punch-ball apparatus, comprises a vertical rod or pillar A having a spiral groove of sufficiently coarse pitch to permit the co-operating nut device B to which the ball C is tethered to descend automatically to the bottom of the rod after reaching the top of its travel. The nut device is formed of bent wire joined together at the ends. The vertical rod is supported by a base D or by guy ropes or by insertion in the ground. For cricket the ball is raised an appropriate distance from the ground, whilst for tennis or for use as a punchball apparatus the whole device is preferably mounted on a raised stand.
