Abstract
394,461. Thrashing and straw-reducing machines. SCHLAYER, K., Wasserburg-on-Bodensee, Germany. April 22, 1932, No. 11617. [Class 58.] The shaft 1 of an axial thrashing or thrashing and straw-reducing machine is provided at its ends with journals 3 and screw-threaded portions 2, the central main portion of the shaft being of square cross-section to take spacing members 4 .. 7, and arm carrying members 8, the members 8 alternating with the spacing members and the spacing members having square apertures so that they can be fitted on the shaft. Each spacing member has at one side two diametrically arranged projections 11 and at the other corresponding recesses 12 for engagement with the projections of the next member, the recesses being displaced 45‹ relatively to the projections. The arm members have central apertures so that they may be rotated on the shaft but these apertures are extended radially in diametrically opposite directions so that the projections 11 of a spacing member can pass therethrough. The leading edges of the arms are bent to form strengthening flanges 16, arms of the same member preferably being bent in opposite directions. Thrashing plates are fitted to the arm members on the front part of the shaft and straw-tearing fingers 18, a baffling disc 19 and a set of rakes 20 towards the rear end. Nuts 9 clamp the spacing members and arm members on the shaft. In a modification the shaft is formed with a helical groove or grooves, the spacing members being apertured correspondingly.
