Abstract
392,936. Retractive switches. PEARSON, J., 31, Clifford Street, and BAINTON, W., 54, Rusholme Road, both in Chorltonon-Medlock, Manchester. Nov. 25, 1931, No. 32652. [Class 38 (v).] In automatic alarms for protecting buildings and motor vehicles of the kind in which a person by stepping on a mat a closes an electric circuit f operating signals i, j, the mat comprises an outer covering of carpet or rubber k and two layers b, e of metal gauze separated by a layer of cellular rubber d, studs or spikes c being spaced over the area of the mat to form points' of contact between the metal layers when the mat is depressed. The studs may be formed on both metal layers. Fig. 4 shows a loose contact piece l resting on the lower metal layer and engaging an aperture in the rubber layer d. The mat may be used to protect a motor vehicle by completing the horn circuit and breaking the ignition circuit ; for this purpose it may be depressed by the movement of the clutch pedal. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 3842/83, [Class 38, Electricity, Regulating &c.], 14742/10, [Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.], and 342,157.
