Abstract
392,733. Liquefying gases. LINDE AIR PRODUCTS CO., 30, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Edwards, H. D. ; 55, Pinebrook Drive, Larchmont, New York, U.S.A.) May 6, 1932, No. 13061. Convention date, May 9,1931. [Clase 8 (ii).] In a multi-stage compression refrigerating system employed in the liquefaction of air and other gases, the gas after initial compression (to 2000 lb.) in a stage compresser 1, driven for example by an electric motor 2, is further compressed (to 3000 lb.) in a compressor 3 driven solely by an expansion motor 4 to which the gas from the compresser 3 is admitted (exhausting at 75 lb.) after cooling in one or more coolers 5. The compresser 3 may consist of two equal cylinders in parallel, and the expansion motor may have an adjustable cut-off. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of the system for general refrigerating purposes. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
