Abstract

392,713. Rotary bottling- machines. CHIGNELL, J., 14, York Road, Hall Green, Birmingham. March 22, 1932, No. 8444. [Class 125 (ii).] Relates to rotary bottling machines of the type in which the bottle-seats are actuated by a cam, and in which the seats are resiliently connected to the members engaging the cam so that these members can move independently of the seats. According to the invention the bottle-seats 10 are operated through split crossheads, parts 12 of which are connected to rods 11 carrying the bottle-seats, while the other parts 13 carry the rollers 16 engaging the cam. Springs 14 tend to draw the two parts of the crossheads together. The crossheads are reciprocable on guides 18, 19, secured to the framework 20 of the machine. Means are provided for maintaining the bottleseats in the raised position during the filling operation and for releasing them when filled. The invention is stated to facilitate the automatic transfer of bottles to and from the machine.
