391,200. Screw propellers. SCHWARZ GES., G., 45, Oraniendamm, Waidmannslust, Berlin. Sept. 11, 1931, No. 25575. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1930. [Class 114.] A non-metallic screw-propeller blade 1 is protected by a sheet-metal cover 2 over its leading edge and open-work metal fabric, such as wire gauze or netting 3, which is pliable and ,shaped to fit the marginal parts of the faces of the blade. These parts are secured by thin pins or screws 4. A final coating 6 fills the netting and acts as a binding or cementing medium, suitable materials being cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, or celluloid. The filling may be applied by a brush, squirting or immersion, and intimate contact obtained by application of pressure. In a modification, the netting is first applied and the part covering the edge has the metal soldered thereto or applied by electrolytic deposition.
