Abstract

Strainer plates for use in the manufacture of wood pulp, cellulose, or paper are made of aluminium or aluminium alloy coated anodically with aluminium oxide or hydroxide and, sometimes, given a subsequent heat treatment. A thin coating only of oxide may be given, and a hard metal, such as nickel or chromium, deposited on the coating by electrolysis. If chromium is used, nickel is preferably deposited first.
