May 20, 1932, No. 14417. [Class 87 (ii).] Insulating-caps 2 are made by filling a mould 1 with insulating material in powder or tablet form, pressing by a die 4 having a mandrel end 6 on which a helical wire is wound, and baking the cap so that the wire is simultaneously embedded in the cap, before the die is removed. The cap may be subsequently removed by an ejector 3, or, if a fixed mould base is employed, the cap may be removed with the die and then unscrewed therefrom. If desired, the funnel-shaped entrance to the cap may be similarly threaded.
