390,962. Feeding-appliances for animals. CROXSON, E. C. S., Southview, Lower Road, Hockley, Essex. May 7, 1932, No. 13261. [Class 5 (ii).] In a poultry-feeding appliance of the type wherein the food is fed by gravity from a hopper through an opening controlled by a valve member fixed to the feeding trough into which the hopper discharges, the food hopper A comprises within its lower portion a partition N open at its lower end and into which the valve member J extends, the wall of the hopper extending downwards beyond the partition into proximity with the base of the valve member J and the trough M, the valve member thus controlling constricted passages at two levels, at both of which the food is agitated by movement of the valve member by the birds. The trough M is secured to a platform L suspended by a rod H from a hanger F. The hanger F is pivotally suspended from a screw E whereby the height of the conical valve member J may be adjusted to regulate the feed from hopper to trough. The hanger F and the valve member J carry stirring arms G, K. The hopper A is supported by legs B and is provided with a removable cover C and a removable rain shield O. A cover P for the trough M is provided with lugs Q by engagement of which with horizontal branches of the legs B, the cover P may be retained in the raised position. According to the Provisional Specification, the legs may pass through apertures in the platform.
