Abstract
390,303. Junction boxes. JARDINE, J. and BRITISH NATIONAL ELECTRICS, Ltd., Clyde Crane Works, Mossend, Lanarkshire. Feb. 25, 1932, No. 5617. [Class 38 (i).] The supply leads 11 of an electric iron are led through a split bush 18 in the cover 17 of a ventilated casing 8 and are connected to terminals 12 mounted on the cover of the iron and adapted to make contact with the strips 14 of the heating element. The bush 18 is of conical form and is retained in the conical end of the cover 17 by a screw cap 19 which also secures the usual stiffening spring 20. The bush positively grips the lead and prevents tugs on the lead affecting the terminal connections. The conductors of the lead are separated in the neighbourhood of the terminals and are insulated by tubes or beads. Clearance is provided between the cover 17, which may be made of a material known under the registered Trade Mark " Elo," and the casing so as to provide adequate ventilation. The casing 8 is provided with projections which together with a projection on the handle form a base on which the iron may be stood on end.
