387,977. Drilling brushstocks. AKTIEBOLAGET CEMA MULTIPLE DRILL MACHINE CO., lA, J÷rgen Ankersgatan, Malm÷, Sweden. Oct. 21, 1932, No. 29520. Convention. date, Oct. 26, 1931. [Class 83 (iii).] A drilling-machine particularly suitable for drilling brush-stocks with inclined holes and having helical spindles rotated by means of a reciprocable plate is provided with a feed arrangement such that each spindle is fed in the direction of its axis towards the workpiece which is stationary. The drills 30, adapted to cut during forward and reverse rotation, are carried at their lower ends by a jig-plate 23, the upper ends being connected to the archimedean spindles 29, which terminate in circular portions 26 revolving in a guide-plate 5. The driving means comprise the plate 12 which engages the spindles and is reciprocated vertically on pillar guides 2 by crank and connecting-rod gear from the shaft 20. The drills are fed simultaneously into the workpiece 31 by a lever 8 which is hinged to a plate 11 bearing against the top of the spindles and sliding on vertical guides 3, spiral springs 27 returning the spindles when the lever is released. The machine may be provided with a protecting casing with slots for movable projecting parts ; the spindles may also be arranged horizontally instead of vertically to facilitate the removal of cuttings.
