Abstract

386,935. Printing processes. WATERLOW & SONS, Ltd., and CLIFFORD, S. G., 26, Great Winchester Street, London. Oct. 31, 1932, No. 30596. [Class 100 (ii).] A document such as a bond, share warrant, cheque, &c., which is to be as fraud-proof as possible, is twice passed through multicolour printing rollers or blocks, once in the direction of the length of the document and once transversely of its length to produce a variegated effect. In the first printing operation the document receives four bands of colour such as yellow, purple, green, and yellow, and the colours are merged at a, b, and c to produce a rainbow effect ; in the second operation the document receives three bands of colour such as blue, red, and blue, and again the colours are merged at d and e. In addition a close register pattern is printed consisting in the first operation of a series of squares 5, crosses 2 within the squares, and crosses 3 outside the squares, and in the second operation of a series of circles 6 and crosses 2a and 4. The combined effect is that the crosses 2a are superimposed on the crosses 2, the crosses 3 lie between the squares 5, and circles 6 all lie within the squares 5.
