Abstract
<PICT:0386101/III/1> Lacquers, stand oils, paints and other viscid materials for coating surfaces are sprayed without a diluent by supplying them from a heated container to an atomizing nozzle from which they are ejected through a flame which also may be employed to heat the surface to be coated. The material is contained in an electrically heated container 1 from whence it passes to an electrically heated tube 6 terminated in a needle valve controlled nozzle. Compressed air controlled by a valve 5 is supplied through a passage 4 to the top of the container 1 and also to a nozzle surrounding the paint nozzle. The atomized liquid is ejected through a burner nozzle 13 supplied with combustible gas through a passage 12. To prevent the paint burning, the inner zone of the flame is cooled by the passage of air through a nozzle 14, the pressure of which is less than that of the atomizing air. Specification 275,477, [Class 95, Paints &c.], is referred to.
