Abstract
384,405. Ironing-machines. HAMILTON, C. E., 6351, Longview Avenue, Hollywood, California, U.S.A. Oct. 27, 1931, No. 29806. [Class 138 (ii).] A stripper member for a flatwork ironer of the types comprising rollers coacting with concave beds or with other rollers comprises a rigid bar 20, Fig. 3, having its upper portion bent over at right-angles. A flexible spring-metal strip 22 is rigidly secured to both parts of the bar and is provided with a downwardly and rearwardly projecting portion 27 which coacts with the roller and with an upper extension which passes under a bridge portion 23 struck up from a triangular hollow carrier member 14. A projection 24 on the carrier member fits into a recess 25 in the upper extension thereby biasing the stripper finger towards the roller. If, however, the stripper encounters an obstruction the finger can swing about the bridge portion 23 out of contact with the roller. The carrier 14 is rotatably mounted in arms 15, Fig. 1, which extend along the sides of the machine and are pivoted to brackets 16 so that the whole of the stripper mechanism can be swung up and retained by a catch 19 engaging a stop 18. The position of the carrier relatively to the arms can be adjusted by means of a screw 32 passing through a bracket 33 on one arm 15 and to which an arm 30 extending from the carrier 14 is swivelled at 31.
