383,794. Automatic exchange switches. MERK, F. and FULD & CO., TELEPHONUND TELEGRAPHENWERKE AKT.- GES., H., 136,. Mainzerlandstrasse, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Jan. 14, 1932, No. 1154. Convention date, May 2, 1931. [Class 40 (iv).] Each set of brushes of a panel selector is mounted on, a hinged member, one plate 18 of which is secured to a supporting plate 11 which carries all the brush-sets and slides in guides 12. The brushes 20 are fixed in an insulating block 19 and are separated from the upper plate 15 of the hinged member by insulation 22. The tension of the brushes causes them to tend to make contact through slots 23 with the bank but this is normally prevented by a locking member 16 engaging a projection 25 on the plate 15. In order to release a set of brushes a push-rod 28 is moved longitudinally and then partially rotated when one of the pins 29 acts on the lower end 32 of the corresponding looking member: The released brush-set is relocked after use by a roller 26 engaging a second projection 24 on the plate 15.
