Dec. 28, 1931, No. 35834. [Class 78 (iv).] A vehicle provided with a movable floor consisting of a flexible band supported throughout its length on rollers is arranged for loading at either side, the band being operated by drums at each side of the vehicle. The floor may consist of two or more bands side by side, arranged to be driven together or independently. As shown, two bands 57, 60 are operated by drums 55, 56 and 58, 59 connected with gear wheels such as 67 driven by pinions 70, 75 and 71, 76. The pinions 70, 71 are on aligned shafts 72, 73 which may be connected by a clutch 86 while a second clutch 79 is provided in connection with the pinions 75, 76. A detachable ratchet handle 88 is provided for operating any of the pinions. The bands are supported on staggered rollers as in Specification 376,425. The edges of the bands are protected by overhanging lips 97, 98 on the end walls of the vehicle, and by a double flange 65 on the transverse member 54 between the floor sections. This partition may extend upwardly level with the walls of the vehicle. The drums 55 &c. are below the level of the floor, as shown in Fig. 3.
