Abstract
382,797. Gas-holders, tanks, &c. KLÍNNE, M. and KLÍNNE, M. (trading as KLÍNNE, A., [Firm of]), 1, K÷rnebachstrasse, Dortmund, Germany. Dec. 14, 1931, No. 34589. Convention date, April 23. [Classes 54 and 69 (i).] The piston of a holder for gas, steam or volatile liquid is rendered gastight by a packing ring a carried by a metal ring consisting of a number of separate sections e connected together and to the piston by a band l of a ductile metal such as lead or copper or of a rubbered fabric having a preferably corrugated thin metal insertion. The ring sections may be pressed outwardly either by springs or by counterweighted levers which may act on either one or several ring sections simultaneously. Figs. 1 and 2 shows the ring sections connected at their lower ends to the piston and slidably supported at their upper ends by pins i on a ring h carried by the piston. Fig. 4 shows the ring sections connected at their lower ends to the piston only by the band l and at their upper ends fitted with rollers m running on pins n carried by brackets o on the piston.
