Abstract
382,414. Number plates. PERRITE, Ltd. and JONES, R. H., Weld bank Rubber Mills, Chorley, Lancashire. Oct. 19, 1931, No. 28936. [Class 3 (ii).] A vehicle identification plate is made of rubber, composition, or like material and has supporting strips, as shown at 10, Fig. 2, for a motor cycle front plate or at 15, Fig. 4, for a motor-cycle rear plate, embedded during manufacture in the body of the plate. Holes 11, 22 in the strips 10, 15 assist in anchoring the plates. A metal lamp-holding ring 24 may be similarly anchored in the rear plate, and may be electrically connected to the strip 15 by an embedded wire &c. 27. The letters and numerals may comprise thin sheet celluloid or fabric secured to the plate by adhesive, or sheet rubber vulcanized during or after manufacture to the plate, or metal or rubber of substantial thickness mounted in recesses in the plate, and secured by vulcanizing or by adhesive, or moulded in position. The rim of the plate is thickened, and the plate and letters may be covered with cellulose or other varnish.
