Abstract

382,379. Stage-lighting lamps. HALL, F. L., 7, Oseney Crescent, London. Sept. 17, 1931, No. 25994. [Class 75 (iv).] A lamp for projecting differently coloured light on to a theatrical stage comprises a stationary support 11 for a series of electric lamp bulbs 15 mounted inside a cylindrical casing 1 provided at one side with a light-emitting opening 9 and at its ends 3 with central hollow bushes 4 adapted to act as entries for the supply cables 19 and to form bearings for a cage 5 rotatably mounted between the bulbs and the casing and carrying framed sheets 10 of coloured or stencilled translucent material adapted to be selectively positioned in register with the opening 9. The support 11 also carries reflectors 13, partitions 16, and a lidded cable box 17 containing the bulb-holders 18 and connected to the cable entries by half cones 25, the box and half cones being lined with asbestos. The cage 5 may be rotated by gearing or by a chain or rope passing round a driving pulley 24 on a spindle 23 carrying a sprocket wheel 22 which engages a chain 21 fitted into a metal channel round one end of the cage. The casing 1 is provided at its ends and on both sides with ventilation holes 6 and at the top with a detachable door 7. The bushes 4 are used for mounting the cylinder 1 on a pair of hanging brackets 2, a partial relative rotation being permitted by means of bolt and slot connections between the brackets 2 and the ends 3 of the casing.
