Convention date, Dec. 1, 1930. [Class 81 (ii).] An apparatus for treating the human skin, for preparing soft finished leather and for the depilation of animal skins comprises two cylinders 1, 2 mounted on oscillatable and fixable arms 5 connected to a frame 7 and handle 19, the cylinders being adapted to be driven by an electric motor 8 either in common or separately in either direction, depending on the disposition of the expansible driving bands 11, 12. The arms may be locked in any position by means of the member 14 and nut 16. An expansible or non-expansible band 21 may be placed around the cylinders. The cylinders or the band may be covered with hair or brush friction material, or a sponge rubber or other cover which is provided with recesses or projections for accommodating ointments or other preparations. Both cylinders or the band may be supplied with an electric current, for example, through a brush 22 bearing against the inner surface of the cylinder, Fig. 3. The second cylinder or, when the device is used in connection with electric medicinal baths, the bath liquid, may serve as a counter pole. The cylinders may be of metal or metal covered. The band may be rendered conductive by moistening, or by introducing metal threads into the fabric, or by spraying the fabric with metal. Electrical heating elements may be disposed within the cylinders.
