Abstract
381,610. Thermally-actuated valves. FEHR, D., 26, Belmont Avenue, New Malden, Surrey. Jan. 13, 1932, No. 10964/31. [Class 135.] In apparatus for the remote control, e.g. of a valve, of the kind in which an expansible chamber containing a volatile liquid receives heat from an electric heater, the heating arrangement is such that when the predetermined pressure is reached the heated body is no longer in direct contact with the liquid. The volatile liquid is contained in a sealed expansible chamber J, the inner wall k<2> of which is heated by an electric heater B which may be controlled thermostatically. When the chamber J expands to operate a valve V the liquid in it is lowered so that it is no longer in contact with the heated wall k<2> and further increase of pressure is prevented. A second bellows W may be provided to prevent leakage of the controlled fluid, and heat-insulating layers w<1>, w<2> may be employed. The outer casing M may have ventilating apertures m<2>, m<3> to vary the operating time.
