Abstract

381,500. Electrode furnaces. CORNELIUS, A., 1, Karlaplan, Stockholm. April 25, 1932, No. 11851. [Class 39 (iii).] In electric melting furnaces, the electrodes A which are submerged, and placed at the bottom of the furnace B, are of wedge-shaped cross section the point E of the wedge being directed downwards so that the least possible current field may arise below the lower edge of the electrode thus preventing corrosion of the bottom of the furnace. In a modification, the electrode consists of a troughshaped body having wedge-shaped side faces.
