Abstract

<PICT:0380566/IV/1> A centrifugal box or pot spinning-machine is provided with bobbin-winding spindles arranged above the boxes, the viscose for forming the threads wound in the boxes and on the bobbins being supplied from a common source and passing through a common coagulating bath whereby centrifugal box spinning and bobbin spinning are simultaneously carried out and increased production is obtained without duplication of the supply conduits for the viscose and acid. Separate jets are provided for each box and each bobbin and a separate pump and filter may be provided for each jet, or one pump may supply a jet for a box and a jet for a bobbin either through two separate filters or through a single filter. A pair of jets may be supplied by a common pump through a common filter and a common rounder end, and each may be carried on a branch from the rounder end or both may be supported in an enlarged holder on the rounder end, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). The invention may be applied to existing centrifugal machines without altering the gauges or other dimensions. As shown, bobbin spindles H are mounted above centrifugal boxes A, the viscose passing from jets c to the boxes and from jets c<1> to the bobbins h<1>. The boxes are driven by independent motors a and the spindles by a motor K through a shaft k<1>, variable gear k<2>, a sprocket chain k<4> and bevel gearing h<2>. The filaments are laid on the bobbins by a rod L reciprocated by levers and links L<3>, L<2>, L<1>, L<4> from a lever L<5> which is oscillated by a cam M engaging two runners l<6> thereon. If bobbins with conical ends are desired, the necessary reduction in traverse is obtained by connecting the link L<4> to a screwed rod l<4> in the lever L<5> which is rotated to vary the effective radius by means of bevel gear l<3> driven by a ratchet wheel M<1> operated by a pawl carried by the lever L<5>. The Provisional Specification describes also the application of the invention to a machine having double the number of pots or boxes of approximately half the usual diameter; the mounting of the bobbin spindles directly on the godet shafts; and the use of ordinary jets, the filaments issuing therefrom being divided to form independent threads, and of jets having two separate sets of holes.
