Abstract
380,087. Holders for spools of thread. WILSON, E. M., 44, Edinburgh Road, Willoughby, and WARD, H., 75, Birrell Street, Waverley, both in New South Wales, Australia. June 1, 1931, No. 15974. [Class 18.] A holder for spools 14 of thread wherein the spools are arranged side by side with their axes in line comprises an approximately semicylindrical body 10 joined to dished, circular ends 11, a guide for each thread, and a lid or cover to the body portion. The thread-guides may comprise spaced perforations in a margin portion 19 of the body, or slots 16 which may be continued as V-shaped notches in a bead 17. The cover 13, Fig. 2, may also be semicylindrical in shape and slide in circular tracks in the flanges of the ends 11, its movement in either direction being limited by the bead 17 or stops in the ends 11. If the section of the body 10 is greater than a semicircle, slight force is required to insert and withdraw the spools ; and, if the cover is made of resilient material, e.g. thin metal, and its section greater than a semicircle, the cover must be turned to the open position and then forced out of concentricity with the body in order to insert or withdraw a spool. One of the longitudinal edges of the cover may be sharpened to form a cutting edge, or the thread may be severed by jambing it under a tongue 20.
