Abstract
379,394. Making battery plates. BRITANNIA BATTERIES, Ltd., 233, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, and BACHMAN, R. A., Olderest, South Street, Redditch, Worcestershire. June 1, 1931, No. 15985. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Shearing apparatus, especially for profiling or sectioning lead plates for accumulators, comprises one or more rotating profiled cutters which are moved over the material 13 to be worked which is disposed on a support 5 having similarly profiled cutting edges 6 . . 11 and is moved at the peripheral speed of the cutters, whereby the material is cut and pressed through openings 17, 18, 19 between the cutting edges of the support. The support may be an endless conveyer 27 or may be reciprocated beneath the cutters. The conveyer may drive the rotary cutters, as shown in Fig. 4, and is provided with projections 28 for feeding the blank plates from a magazine 20.
