Abstract

377,832. Gauge glasses. ERNST, G., 44, Oakland Terrace, Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. Sept. 8, 1931, No. 25231. [Class 123 (i).] The upper and lower fittings 18 of a gauge glass 19 are each provided with a compressible gasket 24, and a two-part gland 25a, 25b. The glanc parts are carried by links 2f pivoted to a crosshead 28 which is threaded to receive a screw 22, so that the glanc is adapted to be adjusted tc exert axial pressure on the gasket without torsion on the glass tube. The two parts 25a, 25b may be locked by co-operating parts 31, 32.
