Abstract
377,330. Moulding sugar. MANBRE & GARTON, Ltd., Winslow Road, Hammersmith, and BERRY, E. A., 91, Hamilton Terrace, St. John's Wood, both in London. May 8, 1931, No. 13604. [Class 87 (ii).] Sugars which are liquid during manufacture and subsequently crystallize into a solid mass, such as invert sugar, are poured in liquid form into a paper bag or like container supported in a mould such as is shown in Fig. 2. The mould comprises fixed vertical sides 2, 3' and removable sides 4, 5, having cross-pieces 9 on which engage slots 8 to hold them in position. In use, a bag, which may be a multiply paper sack, is placed in the mould, and the sugar, " seeded " to promote crystal. lization, is poured in, causing the bag to act as a closely fitting detachable lining of the mould. The sugar crystallizes into a solid mass which is removed from the mould, with the bag adherent thereto. The upper edges of the bag are folded down to form a package.
