Abstract

377,308. Tobacco pipes. SUNDERLAND, J. H., 4, King Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Tient. April 2, 1931, No. 9973. [Class 130.] In a tobacco pipe comprising a mouthpiece o and a bowl a screwed into a stem e, the stem is formed internally with a shoulder g, below which it is bored out to form a well f to receive a metal or vulcanite pan h detachably secured. to the screwed spigot d on the bowl. As shown, the pan h is provided with a cross-bar h<1>, for engagement with a hook k on the bowl, and with a flange clamped between the bowl and the stem, and is formed with vent holes i near the flange. The bore m of the stem is inclined and provided with an enlargement n. In modifications, the pan h is secured to the bowl by a screwed nipple having a central bore, or by a hooked stem passing through a hole in the base of the bowl.
