377,226. Preventing corrosion. LEWIS W. E., 71, Ashley Street, Charing Cross, Glasgow. April 22, 1931, No. 11894. Drawings to Specification. [Class 123 (i).] Corrosion of oil tanks in ships, due to subsequent filling with sea water, is decreased by dissolving a ferrous salt such as copperas in the water and passing a direct current from an iron or steel anode in the tank to the tank as cathode. The anode is soluble under these conditions. The anode may pass through an insulating bush in the tank wall and may rest on an insulating support within the tank.
