[Class 39 (ii).] The illuminating body of the lamp claimed in the parent Specification, consisting of a series of parallel wires arranged in the form of a zig-zag, is supported on main filament-supporting leads a, Fig. 1, each tapering off into a shank b upon which the individual wires, bent at each end into the form of an eye, are sprung. Each shank is provided in proximity to its end with a groove c adapted to accommodate a spring ring by means of which the wires forming the illuminating body are held in position. For illuminating bodies of short length, such as are used for kinema lamps, a series of filaments of the form shown in Fig. 2 may be used, while longer illuminating bodies may be constituted bv a series of filaments of the form shown in Fig. 4, with a central loop d to receive an auxiliary supporting-rod which consists preferably of the same material as the filament. The illuminating body may be sub-divided into groups supported on tapered shanks and connected in series, auxiliary supports being provided.
