Abstract
376,071. Treatment of growing plants. DAVEY, M., Mapua, Nelson, New Zealand. Aug. 26, 1931, No. 24008. [Class 6 (ii).] Means for supporting the branches of fruit and other trees comprise a band C encircling the tree and plates A of rigid material each of curved transverse cross section so as to fit and support a branch and made with one or more downwardly-projecting tongues B beneath which the band is passed to support the plate. The plates may have outwardly-flared top and bottom edges. The tongue may be stamped out of the centre of the plate or formed by cutting up from the bottom, or hooked tongues may be formed at the edges so that the branch is then held between the plate and the band. The tongue may be bent outwardly from the plate and may be formed with an inward bend B<1> further to secure it on the band. The band may comprise two wires twisted together with untwisted sections forming loops for engaging the tongues.
