Abstract

375,698. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London. -(Assignees of Conklin, J. W. ; Rocky Point, and Finch, J. L. ; Patchogue, both in Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 15, 1931, No. 34766. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 40 (v).] In a thermionic generator stabilized by a long electrical line both standing and travelling waves are utilized for feeding back energy. Fig. 2 shows a neutralized oscillator 30 which is stabilized by a line 2 inductively coupled by coil 42 to the output by a coil of few turns so that large currents are introduced. An inductive reactance 44 is introduced to give the necessary 90‹ phase change to obtain the required phase on the grid 38. Fig. 5 shows the application to short-wave generation of a push-pull screen-grid oscillator coupled to a power amplifier 102 in which condensers 68, 70 are used for obtaining the 90‹ phase change and slides 98 for fine adjustment of the frequency. The output is applied to the amplifier 102 by magnetic coupling between the output tuning loop 4 and a loop 100 in the input to the amplifier. Modulation is applied to the oscillator as shown. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement for stabilizing on the longer wave-lengths in which harmonics are obtained from the frequency multiplier 120 the input 122 of which is tuned the fundamental and the output 124 to a harmonic, a line 130 being used to couple the input and output and having a length of the desired number of half wave-lengths of the harmonic frequency selected.
