[Class 100 (iv).] Platen rotation for condensed billing.-In arrangements comprising a hand-lever provided with a pawl for turning the platen or feed-member backwards and forwards, the forward feed being greater than the backward, spring means is provided for holding the pawl in engaged or disengaged position, and the stop-means for the hand-lever consist of a circumferentially adjustable stop-pin and a radially movable stop-arm co-operating.with a stationary stop, the stop-pin being retractable to permit of feeds of more than one revolution. In the apparatus shown in Figs, 1, 3 and 6, a ratchet wheel 16 on the platen shaft B cooperates with a pawl 19 pivoted on a handlever 17 and formed with a recess 21 which engages a pin 23 on a bell crank 24 pivoted on the hand-lever. The pawl and bell crank are connected by an over-centre spring 25. The pin 23 co-operates with an adjustable stop-pin 12, and a stop 29 formed on a loose radial arm 27 which abuts on a pin 26 on a stationary disc 7. The stop-pin is mounted in a sleeve 11 on a loose arm 10 and normally projects through one of a series of holes 9 in the disc. The stop-pin can be retracted by means of a knob 13 passing through a slot 14 having a recess for holding the stop-pin in the position shown in Fig. 3. The pin 23 co-operates also with a fixed pin 31. Initially the pin 23 abuts on the stop 29 and rests in the front of the recess 21, the pawl being disengaged. When the handlever is advanced, the pawl remains disengaged until the pin 23 engages the pin 31 and is moved to the rear of the recess, the pawl being thereby positively coupled to the ratchet wheel. Further movement of the hand-lever turns the platen backwards to feed backwards the recordsheet and invoice, feed continuing until the pin 23 engages the stop-pin 12. After substitution of another invoice the hand-lever is returned to feed forwards the record-sheet and invoice. During return of the hand-lever, the pin 23 passes idly under the pin 31 and the pawl remains coupled to the ratchet wheel until the pin 23 engages the stop 29, the forward feed of the record-sheet exceeding the backward feed by one line-space. If it is required to turn the platen through more than one revolution, the stop-pin 12 is retracted to the position shown in Fig. 3. During advance of the handlever, the pin 23 passes the stop-pin and carries forward the arm 27, the movement continuing until the arm engages the stop-pin. During return of the hand-lever, the pin returns the arm to initial position.
