Abstract
374,968. Discharging vertical retorts. WOODALL-DUCKHAM (1920), Ltd. and DUCKHAM, A. M., 136, Victoria, Street, London. Feb. 23, 1931, No. 5621. [Class 51 (ii).] Apparatus for discharging vertical retorts comprises an enlarged retort extension a<1> which communicates with an inclined coke chamber f containing a movable platform g, and is fitted with a curved plate c adapted to be rotated by the shaft d to close the lower end of the retort a. Adjustable shoes e to take up wear are fitted between the plate c and the wall of the extension a<1>. The platform g is operated by a lazytongs device h in which is incorporated means for ensuring a uniform speed of descent of the platform. When the latter reaches its lowermost position, the coke supported thereon discharges by gravity through a pivoted door k which, by its opening movement, simultaneously operates, through gearing n, a door m at the outer end of the discharge shoot.
