[Class 112.] Trimming.-A horizontal blade is carried by a rocker to trim off the lower of superposed plies of fabric during the operation of stitching them together. A boss 20 on the underside of the machine arm carries a bracket 21 in which is supported a stud 22. A sleeve 23 pivots on the stud 22 and carries a vertically depending swinging frame 24. A carrier 26 is secured to the frame with capacity for adjustment towards or away from the stud 22. A complemental carrier 30 is adjustably secured on the carrier 26. The member 30 carries the trimmer blade holder 34, 35. The arm 34 is horizontal and carries the shank 36 of the trimmer which has a depending vertical pin 37 with a cutting edge directed oppositely to the feed of the work. The blade is adjustable away from or towards the seam by the screw 39. The arm 35 is acted upon by the spring 41 to urge the cutter yieldingly downwards towards the throat plate. The swinging frame 24 is releasably latched to a rock lever 44 fulcrumed on the sleeve 23 by a spring plunger 54 released by the lever 61. The rock lever 44 and knife also when the latch is operative, is operated by a link 45, crank arm and eccentric on the main shaft 5.
