Abstract
374,451. Covers for spare tyres. LYON, G. A., 115, Elberon Avenue, Allenhurst, New Jersey, U.S.A. April 15, 1930, No. 11913. Convention date, April 20, 1929. [Class 94 (ii).] A cover for spare tyres comprises a unitary substantially circular peripheral cover member 4, Fig. 6, of resilient material, adapted, when in position, to hold a side cover member 2 in position. The peripheral cover member is contractible to a diameter less than that of the tyre, and is laterally movable with relation to the side cover to fit tyres of different sizes. A cushioning pad 12, Fig. 11, of dumb-bell cross section, may be interposed between the members 2, 4. The pad may be of fabric impregnated with asphaltum or vulcanized rubber, and may be carried by a groove 14 in the side member. When the tyre cover is to be applied to a tyre supported in a well, the member 4 is made with the ends sufficiently far apart to clear the well. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 19162/12, [Class 94 (ii), Paper bags &c.].
