Abstract
374,314. Visible card indexes. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Yawman & Erbe Manufacturing Co. ; Rochester, New York, U.S.A.) July 20, 1931, No. 20689. [Class 146 (i).] In loose-leaf binders in which a series of sheets are mounted in overlapping formation on prongs a<3>, b<2>, a device hingedly attached to one of the covers is provided for shifting one or more of the sheets relatively to the remainder when required. The device consists of a rectangular frame e pivotally mounted on brackets f which are secured to the cover b<1> on the centre-line thereof. The bar e<1> of the frame carries prongs e<2> spaced correspondingly to the prongs b<2> so that a number of the sheets may be transferred thereto if a sheet is to be inserted or removed. A stop f<1> limits the movement of the frame towards the prongs b<2>. In order to move the transferred sheets a distance equal to the spacing of one or more perforations therein, the arms e<3> of the frame e are made springy. In a modification, the prongs e<2> are mounted on a tube slidable on the bar e<1> and a catch is provided to hold the tube in its normal central position on the bar e<1>. In this construction the arms e<3> may either be rigid or springy.
