[Class 120 (ii).] In a stopping device for spinning, doubling and twisting frames for yarns according to the parent Specification, wherein the thread is driven between two superposed cylinders and in the case of thread breakage a falling arm sets tongues between the driving and driven cylinders, the tongues are secured to a rotatably mounted member which carries a member over which the thread passes. The thread F passes from a spool d round cylinders b, a over a bar e to its point of use. To the bearing 8 of the cylinder a is adjustably secured by a screw 12, a holder 11, on which an arm 1 is rotatably mounted by means of a pin 2. The arm 1 carries at its lower end a pin 15 on which is rotatably mounted a sleeve 3 with tongues 4 of leather, celluloid, rubber or like material. To the lever 3 is connected a small lever arm 9 carrying a wire loop 10. The movement of the lever arm 9 is limited in one direction by an extension of the pin 2. The thread F passes over the loop 10 and under the sleeve 3 so that if the machine is stopped the thread tension diminishes and the tongues 4 approach the driving cylinder b. Before, however, they contact with the cylinder b, the bent end of the small lever arm 9 does so, thus moving the loop 10 away from the cylinder a and increasing the thread tension so that the tongues 4 only contact with the cylinder b when this has nearly come to rest and accordingly are not engaged between the cylinders b, a. If, however, the thread breaks or the traveller or spindle drive is stopped the tongues 4 fall on the still moving cylinder b and are dragged between the cylinders b, a thus separating them and stopping the drive for the thread.
