Abstract
370,576. Toy aeroplanes. LANE, W. H., 162, Sydenham Road North, Croydon. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 5278. [Class 132(iii).] A set of wooden parts for building a toy aeroplane, seaplane, &c., comprises a fuselage a, recessed at a<4> for the reception of a reduced portion of a lower plane b, and an upper plane c, the planes being correctly cambered and of correct dihedral angle. The parts are held together by streamlined struts e, pins,. wire supports d and lengths of wire forming the stays. The propeller is shaped from a wood blank g by the person assembling the model and is rotatably mounted on a headed pin h. The upper surface of the fuselage is hollowed out at a<1> to provide cockpits. The rudder engages with a slot a<3> in the fuselage and the tail-plane k engages with a slot k<1> in the rudder j. A piece of wood l is shaped to represent the fuel tank and is glued or otherwise mounted in position. The tail-skid m is bent from a wire and is fixed in a hole in the fuselage. The landing wheels n are carried at the ends of wire members o secured on the underside of the fuselage. A sheet of celluloid or the like is provided from which the wind screens p for the cock-pits may be cut out. The stays q are formed by a length of thin wire which is passed through fine holes in the plane and under the fuselage. The motor comprises a shaped wooden part r or a small metal pressing. The whole set of parts can be mounted on a card in a box together with pins, a tube of glue for sticking together any of the parts and a sheet of instructions.
