370,383. Constructional ironwork. BURSTALL, A. F., SMITH, R. A., Norton Hall, The Green, Norton-on-Tees, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33295. [Class 20 (ii).] Tubular structural members are joined together by means of an intermediate member welded or soldered to one member and having the ends of the other members welded or soldered to it, so that they stand out approximately at right-angles to the surfaces of the intermediate member at the joints, and the meeting faces are plane circles. The intermediate member may be in the form of a sphere, or polyhedron 1, through which one member 3 passes, or it may be in the form of a multisurfaced plate 20 welded or soldered to the main member 21 and having the ends of the other members 26 welded or soldered to the surfaces thereon. The members may be disposed in various planes. The sphere or polyhedron may be formed in two halves welded together at 2, or the tube may be softened at a point and a bulb blown on it to form an intermediate member.
