[Class 112.] Doubleloop stitching.-Manually operated means are provided to move bodily an oscillatory looper-carrier on its driving shaft to move the looper away from the needle into an easy threading position. As described for a two needle double loop stitching-machine the loopers 14 are mounted on a looper-carrier 9 which is angularly adjusted, by set-screws 12 engaging a web 13 thereon, relatively to a looper-carrier support 7, which fits over a pin 5 normal to a sleeve 4 mounted for lengthwise movement on an inclined crank 3, on a rotary looper driving shaft 2. A bearing pin 8 rigid with the support 7 and normal to the pin 5 is mounted to rock and slide in an eccentric aperture 20 in a sleeve 21 mounted for turning movement in a frame member 22 of the machine, under the manual operation of a knob 24 secured to its outer end. A spring-pressed pin 26 engaging a semicircular recess 25 in the underside of the knob serves to limit rotary movement of the sleeve 21 to half a revolution, to move the looper-carrier 9 bodily from one limiting position to the other, and to hold it, by a recess 27, with the loopers 14 in the sewing position. No destructive clashing of the moving parts can occur if the shaft 2 is rotated with the loopers thrown out, and locking means to prevent such rotation are therefore rendered unnecessary.
