Francaise des Regulateurs Universels Arca. ; 164, Rue de la Croix- Nivert, Paris.) March 17, 1931, No. 8253. Convention date, April 15, 1930. [Class 135.] Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves.-The temperature in a heated vessel 1 is controlled by valves 4, 11 regulating the supply and discharge of heating fluid and actuated by fluid pressure under the control of an auxiliary device actuated by a single thermal element 5. The bulb 5 is connected by a flexible pipe to a Bourdon tube 25 engaging an adjusting screw 26 on a pivoted member 23 adapted to regulate the discharge of liquid from a nozzle 22 connected to the actuating chamber 20 of the inlet valve. The chamber is supplied with fluid through a conduit 31 and the nozzle is so arranged that a rise of temperature causes the valve to close. The member 23 carries an adjusting screw 35 adapted to engage a member 34 controlling a nozzle 32 connected to the actuating chamber 28 of the valve 11, so that on a further rise of temperature the outlet valve is opened. A second thermal bulb 40 may be arranged in a well 41 and connected to a Bourdon tube 43 coupled to a lever 44 engaging an adjusting screw 45 on the member 34 to enable the device to function also as a steam trap. The invention is also applicable to temperature regulators with mechanical, hydraulic or electrical devices for varying the temperature in accordance with a predetermined law. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which the inlet and outlet valves are actuated by bellows connected to a single thermal chamber without the interposition of relay valves. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
