[Class 8 (ii).] An air filter is packed with elements formed of spirals or scrolls 1 of perforated metal through which the air passes transversely. Short elements may be packed irregularly, or elements may be used extending the width of the filter frame and arranged in horizontal rows facilitating the retention of oil on their surfaces. The frame may be of expanded metal retaining the elements and may have handles 6.
